Vicki Cruse Scholarship
Women pilots from The Ninety-Nines and aviators throughout the world have banded together to establish the Vicki Cruse Memorial Scholarship to honor national aerobatic championship pilot and Ninety-Nine, Vicki Cruse, who died August 22, 2009 while representing the United States in the World Aerobatic Competition in the U.K.
The Scholarship will be administered through the 99s Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund. It will provide financial aid to women pilots for emergency maneuver and aerobatic training. Through the scholarship, Vicki’s accomplishments and memory will serve as an inspiration to future generations of pilots.
Through the IAC and her many presentations to 99s and other aviation groups, Vicki was devoted to educating pilots about the safety benefits of emergency maneuver and unusual attitude training. The Vicki Cruise Memorial Scholarship will encourage others to become more precise and safer pilots.
Vicki’s home chapter, the Ventura County 99s, has established a “Remembering Vicki” web site, www.ennect.com/e808, announcing the scholarship and a pledge to match, up to a maximum of $30,000, each dollar donated to the Vicki Cruise Scholarship. Lightspeed Aviation pledged $25,000 and the Ventura County Chapter pledged $5,000 in matching funds to ensure a solid foundation for the scholarship.
The Ventura County Chapter, as agent for the Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund, will accept donations to the Scholarship on line at the “Remembering Vicki” site at www.ennect.com/e808. Contributions can also be made by checks payable to the “Ventura County 99s” (write “Vicki Cruse Memorial Scholarship" in the memo line) and mailed to:
