The Ninety-Nines Scholarship Registry is a collection of scholarships offered by individuals, organizations, Chapters or Sections which will utilitize one application and set of instructions. Applications are collected and forwarded to the appropriate parties offering the scholarships. The Ninety-Nines do not review or judge the applications.

ELAINE HUF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 – In honor of the late Elaine Huf, who tragically perished in an aircraft accident with her husband, the Eastern PA Chapters 99s is offering a $1,000 scholarship toward a tail wheel endorsement to a lady who resides, attends school or is employed in the Greater Delaware Valley area or who is a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter 99s. Additional requirements are: (1) In your essay, explain your goals and interests (2) Upon completion of the use of the scholarship award, present a written or oral report at a Chapter meeting regarding your training accomplishments and status (3) Attend one Eastern PA Chapter 99s meeting within one year of the scholarship award.
FLORIDA SUNCOAST CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP: $1,500 – Florida Suncoast Chapter 99s is offering a $1,500 scholarship to a Chapter member to be used for dual flight instruction for a BFR, IPC or toward a new rating or certificate. Additional requirements: (1) Must be a member in good standing of 99s International and the Florida Suncoast Chapter having attended at least 2 meetings within the past 12 months (2) One of the 2 letters of recommendation must be from a flight instructor or someone with whom you have flown (3) Must have a minimum of private pilot rating and a current medical (4) Include in your essay why you became a pilot and a 99, flight hours, ratings and purpose of scholarship (5) An interview – either in person or phone may be required (6) Funds must be used by June 30, 2015 and will be paid directly to flight school or instructor.
GANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 for FEMALE APPLICANT – Bonnie Gann was an active 99s and flight instructor. Bonnie and her 49 ½, Archie, were tragically killed in an accident in the Bahamas. The SE Section of the 99s and the Gann family started this scholarship to honor Bonnie & Archie and to help carry on their work in providing quality flight instruction. The SE Section 99s is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a female applicant for flight instructor training. Additional requirements are: (1) provide a photograph of the applicant (2) include in the essay information on the background of the applicant, specific plans for the use of the scholarship and future plans for use of the flight instructor certificate (3) provide a separate page detailing information about any aviation related violations or accidents, and whether a medical has ever been refused or lost (4) membership in the 99s in NOT required at the time of application but shall be a condition of award of the scholarship (5) applicant must live in the SE Section region (FL, AL, MS, eastern LA, NC, SC, TN, GA).
GANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 for MALE APPLICANT – Bonnie Gann was an active 99s and flight instructor. Bonnie and her 49 ½, Archie, were tragically killed in an accident in the Bahamas. Kitty Hawk Chapter Flight Training Award: $2,000 – The Kitty Hawk Chapter 99s is offering a $2,000 scholarship to assist a woman in becoming a certified pilot or advancing her ratings or certificates. Additional Requirements are: (1) Possess the appropriate FAA medical for the certificate or rating sought (2) Be available for a personal interview in Raleight, NC on April 14, 2014 (3) Minimum age is 16; if under age 18, parent or guardian must co-sign the application (4) NC resident or attending a school in NC (5) Applicant must be pursuing an aviation goal that includes flight training (6) Training must commence within 3 months after award; winner must signed receipts from student/instructor showing progress before funds will be paid.
M. E. GREIN SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 – Marie Grein has been a 99s for well over 20 years and she says “joining the 99s has enriched my life beyond measure”. Marie wants to offer the same opportunity to another lady pilot. Marie is offering a $1,000 scholarship for initial flight training for a private certificate to a woman who is 30 years of age or older. Additional requirement are: (1) provide evidence of passing the written test for private pilot certificate.
MOUNT SHASTA 99s CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP: $1,500 – Mount Shasta Chapter 99s is offering a $1,500 scholarship to be used toward a private pilot certificate or any advanced rating. Additional requirements: (1) Must be English proficient (2) Must be a resident of one of the following Counties in CA: Shasta, Trinity, Siskiyou, Modoc, Tehama, Glenn, Butte (3) PRIOR TO AWARD (but not prior to application) must present evidence of passing written exam, have a current medical and a current BFR for advanced rating application (4) Include in application a personal budget demonstrating financial need (5) Include in the essay activities in and commitment to aviation, demonstrated ability to reach goals. Note: Monthly progress reports from the flight school and copies of the log book will be required from the scholarship recipient to show satisfactory progress toward certificate or rating sought.
RISING STAR SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 – The Oregon Pines Chapter 99s is offering a $1,000 scholarship to inspire a 99 or Associate member to rise to a higher level of aviation. The scholarship may be used for a new or advanced certificate, endorsement or rating. Additional requirements are: (1) submit a brief course outline for the requested training (2) provide the name and contact information of the flight school or instructor (3) aviation training in the State of Oregon ONLY (4) Include in your essay how this scholarship will help you advance in aviation; how it will help you contribute to aeronautics, the 99s or others; how you plan to cover the additional expenses of training to attain your goal (5) please note the best way for the scholarship selection committee to contact you.
RUTH WIKANDER SCHOLARSHIP: $321.95 – Nutsch Aviation is offering this Ground Instructor Certificate Scholarship in honor of Ruth Wikander, an AE Scholarship winner, Chief pilot for Wiks Air Service and flight instructor. Her work included life saving air ambulance flights and aerial traffic patrol. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage a higher level of education for 99s. Becoming a ground instructor is a great way to enhance pilot credentials, refresh airmen knowledge and give additional credibility for working with youth aviation activities. Additional information: (1) Training is self-study. (2) Airmen knowledge exams must be administered at the PSI Test Center at Nutsch Aviation, Independence State Airport. (3) Nutsch Aviation will make arrangement for pick-up or delivery of the 2014 test pre materials to the scholarship winner. (4) Scholarship winner will be reimbursed for exam fees upon passing the FOI exam and either the BGI or AGI exam.
SUGARLOAF FLY IT FORWARRD SCHOLARSHIP: $1,500 – Sugarloaf Chapter 99s is offering up to a $1,500 scholarship in honor the “small but mighty” Sugarloaf 99’s chapter, who has provided inspiration and support to fellow aviatrix by “Flying It Forward” to help support the women of our chapter and section pursue their aviation related goals. Funds may be used for any phase of flight training (initial pilot through ATP including instrument, instructor or other ratings), academic work related to aviation, air racing, or charity flying to a qualified applicant who is an associate or member of the Sugarloaf Chapter or the Mid-Atlantic Region of The Ninety-Nines, Inc. Additional requirements are: (1) Initial Certificate and Instrument Rating require a chapter or section mentor identified and recommendation letter written by the mentor (one of the two required) (2) Applicant Essay should include how you intend to use the funds, how any additional expenses will be covered to complete your chosen activity, how long you have been an associate or member, and a brie history of your volunteerism (3) At least one of the Letters of Recommendation should be from your CFI, Trainer, Teacher, Program Lead, etc. supporting your effort (4) Provide a copy of the Training or Event Program/Curriculum/Syllabus, etc. that outlines the activity to be funded (limit 2 pages). Please note that applicant and mentor (if applicable) must report monthly to the Sugarloaf Scholarship Chair on Progress. Funds will be paid to the vendor directly after receipt of evidence achieving specific milestone(s) or other criteria agreed upon at the time of award notification.
WINGS OVER PARADISE SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 – Paradise Coast Chapter 99s is offering a $2,000 scholarship for any phase of flight training (private pilot through ATP including instructor ratings) to a qualified applicant residing in the state of Florida. Additional requirements are: (1) provide evidence of passing written test, if a written test is required for the rating sought (2) be sure to include in your essay why you feel you are uniquely qualified for the scholarship (3) provide proof of permanent FL residency such as a voters registration.
