How do you hear about job openings and the "interview gouge"? Where do pilots want to work and who do they avoid? How can you handle tricky situations with co-workers or on checkrides? The Pro 99s Network is a unique email-based networking forum where women pilot professionals and aspirants discuss issues particular to our pilot careers, including finding scholarships and jobs, training concerns, and balancing work and family. Our network already includes hundreds of women pilots in a dozen countries flying in airline, bush, charter, corporate, entrepreneurial, flight instruction, government, helicopter, and military careers.

Watching a role model or networking cannot compare to one-on-one mentoring by an experienced professional who shares her knowledge, connections, and guidance personally with you. Mentoring is key to your personal success as a pilot, and also to our collective advancement in aviation. The Ninety-Nines has potential mentors for you in every conceivable pilot career, from ballooning scenic tour operator to Shuttle Pilot. The 99s Professional Pilot Leadership Initiative aims to provide highly motivated women pilots with the tools necessary to develop their pilot careers and leadership, through guided activities and formal mentoring partnerships with women pilot professionals, in a three-phase 18 to 24 month structured program. Learning to fly can be expensive. Not everybody can pay for the advanced training required to launch a pilot career, so scholarships can make all the difference.

The 99s Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship was established in 1940 to honor The Ninety-Nines' first president and perpetuate her unselfish interest and enthusiasm for all women pilots. In December 2003, our Fund reached one million dollars!

Our Career Scholarships are unique in that they cover the entire cost of completing advanced flight training or coursework, such as for multi-engine ratings, jet type ratings, flight instructor and airline transport pilot certificates, and college degrees. Future Woman Pilot Awards are given towards the completion of the private pilot certificate. Additionally, many 99s Chapters and Sections offer their own scholarships.

Over 400 winners of these scholarships and grants have progressed in their aviation careers, so that many are now airline pilots, corporate pilots for Fortune 500 companies, owners of flights schools and aviation businesses, and aviation safety inspectors and managers with the Federal Aviation Administration, to offer just a few examples.
