Why email networking?
-
Networking with women pilots: Reduce your isolation - this is an ideal forum for communicating and connecting with women pilots worldwide whom you might not otherwise meet.
-
-
Learning: A unique, safe place to ask questions, take advantage of others expertise, or share your own experiences about flying or being a 99.
-
-
Problem-solving: If you have a question, ask. You will hear from other 99s with similar interests and issues, and everyone can benefit from the discussion.

What is it and how do I use it?
-
-
Participate by writing your message - a question, comment, or response - and emailing it to the appropriate forum's email address. Your "post" is automatically sent out to everyone in that forum (or to all "subscribers" of the "list"), and they will be able to read and respond to it. Most subscribers receive that day's messages in a single daily email message ("digest"). Or, you can do as many others do and simply "lurk" and read the posts without responding - you can learn a lot that way, too.

How do you receive messages from the Email Networks?
-
-
DIGEST
-
Each night around midnight Pacific time, you will receive a single email message containing all the messages contributed to the Email Network that day. At the top of the message will be a numbered list of the subjects in that digest, followed by the complete messages themselves. NOTE: This is the default setting for all subscribers upon first sign-up, but it can easily be changed to another option!
-
-
-
MAIL
-
You receive copies of messages posted to the Email Network immediately as they are sent.
-
-
-
MIME DIGEST
-
The same as a digest, but in MIME format so that the individual messages' formatting is preserved. Some email clients such as Outlook will show the digest as a series of attachments.
-
-
-
INDEX
-
Each night around 1:00 AM, you will receive a single email message containing all the subject lines of all the messages contributed to the Email Network that day. If any of the messages interest you, the bottom of the index gives the email command that will retrieve the bodies of the messages. Or, you can access the Email Network directly through the web interface.
-
-
-
NOMAIL
-
No email is sent to you. You are free to go the web interface whenever you want and read the full text of the messages there.

Netiquette:
- Please read and comply with the Code of Conduct.
- Post appropriate messages to the appropriate network - no cross-posts to all the networks, no off-topic discussions and no virus warnings or forwarded jokes, please.
- When replying to a network message, do NOT copy the original message. Either delete the extraneous text before sending, turn off this feature in your email software, or start with a new message.
- Remember that when you post a message or reply to a posted message, it will go to all the subscribers in the network. If you intend your message to be private, check the 'TO' field for the correct email address.
- If you are initiating a new topic of discussion, put the new topic in the 'SUBJECT' field of your message.
- Don't send photos, graphics, and file attachments. To transmit information that's in a file, cut and paste the text into the main body of your email message.
- Due to differences in email software, in some messages the encoding does not transmit correctly when forwarded by the forum. To prevent this, change your message encoding to 'Plain Text,' rather using than 'HTML' or 'Rich Text.'
- Our email networking forums are for the professional, courteous, and educational exchange of information and ideas. The emotion behind a message can be easily misinterpreted - when in doubt, give the writer the benefit of the doubt. Do NOT write and post your message while angry - hit 'SAVE' or 'DELETE' and wait a day to cool off and reconsider. Agreement on a viewpoint is optional, but respectful discourse is mandatory.
- If you have a question, concern, or suggestion about The 99s Email Networks, how they function, or about the Code of Conduct and Netiquette, do not post these in any forum. Please contact the 99s eNetworking Committee as listed in the 99s Directory or at forums99s@aol.com.
