JERRIE COBB, SOLO PILOT by Jerrie Cobb. True flying adventures of one of the world's top pilots. This is the story of a courageous woman with an extraordinary talent for flying, who chose not to exploit it, but rather to use it in serving others. The Jerrie learned to fly a bi-wing plane at 12; at age of 16, she was barnstorming with a circus around Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. At 18 she was teaching others to fly and at 21, Jerrie was delivering military fighters and 4-engine bombers around the world. While still in her twenties, she set four new world aviation records for speed, distance and absolute altitude. She has earned many aviation awards; many governments have honored her. She was the first woman to pass NASA astronaut tests, but when women were not allowed in the 1960s to become astronauts, Jerrie used her flying to serve the primitive people of the Amazon jungle. For her humanitarian work in the jungle, Jerrie was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Proceeds from the sale of this
book go to help the indigenous peoples of the Amazon jungle in
South America. Her previous book, "Woman into Space"
is out of print.
