VIDEO: HUMAN FACTORS AND PILOT ERROR by Nina Anderson Pilot error is a term that most of us dread. We all occasionally make mistakes when we fly and although most of those have happy endings, we question why we made the wrong decision. Somehow our head was "up and locked" and we forgot procedures or got overwhelmed with too many tasks. Accident reports abound with news that the pilot had been on duty far too long or was sick or just flew into the mountain... Physical condition plays a big part in our ability to handle a tough situation. The video tells us what we can do differently to control affects our lifestyles have on our physiology and our performance. This new training video tape was filmed during an FAA Aviation Safety Seminar and is available as a tool to aid pilots in being more responsible in preflighting themselves. Nina Anderson is an ATP with over 5000 hours; she has type ratings in the BS125 (Hawker) and NA 165 (Sabreliner). She has worked in all phases of aviation from dispatcher, weather briefer, aircraft salesperson, airline pilot and corporate pilot. Nina retired from commercial flying a little over 8 years ago and has devoted her time to writing health books on aviation, pet health, anti-aging and sports nutrition. She holds a BA from Monmouth College and is an ISSA certified Specialist in Performance Nutrition. A pilot for 30 years, she currently runs seminars for pilots on the physiology behind pilot error. Nina is also the author of The Backseat Flyer, Eliminating Pilot Error, and co-author of seven other books. Visit her website for more information.
