Author Marjorie Johnson belongs to Santa Clara Valley Chapter, Southwest Section of The Ninety-Nines. She is an instrument rated private pilot with 1600 hours in general aviation aircraft, and she flies a Mooney M20K out of Palo Alto Airport, the setting for Bird Watcher. Writing as Marjorie Bicknell Johnson, she has published ninety papers in academic mathematics journals. She has begun research for a second novel.
