The Ninety-Nines Incorporated is an international organization of licensed women pilots. We are a non-profit group whose purpose is to engage in strictly educational, charitable and/or scientific activities and purposes. Our Mission Statement is to: Promote world fellowship through flight, Provide networking and scholarship opportunities for women and aviation in the community and Preserve the unique history of women in aviation. The name of the organization is derived from the original total number of charter members - 99. We are approximately 6,500-strong worldwide, flying in every conceivable aspect of aviation. The Maple Leaf Chapter of the East Canada Section encompasses the Southwestern Ontario region. We are actively dedicated to aerospace education in our area and participate, present and sponsor programs at all levels and on both individual and group basis. 99s present at Careers Day, with a presentation featuring a full range of aviation-type avocations and not just "pilot". We have both originated and been instrumental in coordinating in-class programs correlated with regular curriculum protocols, such as Air Bears (Kindergarten participatory role-playing) and Theory of Flight (intermediate-level elementary science lesson). Plus we would be pleased to arrange teaching aids, tours, referrals and resources. We are apparent within the flying and the general community due to our safety-oriented activities such as Flying Companion Seminars, shared MOT-sponsored Pilot-Decision Making courses, area airport Air Marking, area Poker Runs, Science Fair prizes, Air Cadet and Let's Talk Science support. There are scholarships and grants we are proud to provide locally, nationally and internationally. 99s' Aerospace Education programmes continue to evolve in importance and scope. To help meet today's needs to educate the non-flying public of the impact of aviation and space on our daily lives and to encourage your interest and participation in aviation, we advocate those proverbial maths and sciences and a full spectrum of interests be incorporated in today's students.
