Ann Wood-Kelly
Ann Wood-Kelly, a true aviation pioneer
passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2006. She was one of 28 American
women recruited in 1942 by Jackie Cochran to fly for the British
Air Transport Auxiliary during WWII. After her return to the
States she later became the first female Vice-President for Pan
American Airways. The most recent addition to her aviation legacy
was her lead in the creation of a website for the Air Transport
Auxiliary (www.airtransportaux.org)
which remains the best source of information about ATA on the
internet.
Ann was a Life Member of the Ninety-Nines and a member of the
Eastern New England Chapter, New England Section. Ann is survived
by her son, Christopher Wood Kelly.
